Guided Tours of the Museum

In addition to the free visit, anyone visiting the Lourinhã Museum also has the possibility of taking advantage of a guided tour. On this interactive visit, the guide will frame and explain the various themes covered in the Museum's various exhibitions. This visit is estimated to last an hour and a half.

Every day, there is the possibility of a guided tour, requiring prior appointment, during the Museum’s opening hours. These visits have a minimum limit of 5 visitors.

Guided Tours of the field and Museum

The Lourinhã Museum also offers the possibility of a Guided Visit to the Countryside, in conjunction with the Guided Visit to the Museum (for groups of more than 10 people).

The Guided Visit to the Countryside includes a visit to the beaches of Caniçal/Paimogo and Porto de Barcas, where It explains what this region was like in the time of our dinosaurs. Through observation of fossils and local rocks from the Upper Jurassic (around 150 million years old), the visitor is taken back in time to a very different Lourinhã.

Field visits are subject to weather conditions and tidal times. The group is responsible for transportation (of the guide) throughout the guided tour, including the journey to and from Lourinhã.

School Guided Tours

The Museum's Educational Service offers visits for school groups, for different years of education. For more information, see here.
